Mission Statement
APA-KY shall promote planning throughout the Commonwealth to enhance the quality of life in for all  Kentuckians.

Goals

  • Provide and support educational opportunities in Planning for Professional Planners, Students, Elected Officials and Citizen Planners.

  • Encourage membership involvement in Chapter activities, retention of existing members, and the addition of new members.

  • Network with other organizations in an effort to foster support for APA-KY goals and objectives.

  • Promote social equity and diversity within the profession and through community planning efforts and practices.

  • Increase citizen awareness and understanding regarding the role and value of planning in community and regional development.

  • Promote effective planning through legislative efforts.

Organizational Profile
The American Planning Association - Kentucky Chapter brings together practitioners, planning officials, students, and interested citizens into a single and stronger community development forum. We provide current information on planning issues, practices, and techniques. We are advocates for good planning in national, state and local forums.

Bylaws
The American Planning Association - Kentucky Chapter is governed by the Chapter Bylaws to govern its members and to regulate its affairs.  The Bylaws were last amended by vote of the general membership on May 9, 1996 at the Spring 1996 APA-KY conference at Shakertown to change the Chapter's fiscal year from October 1- September 30 to the calendar year.  During the Fall 2009 Conference the membership will be considering amendments to the Bylaws.  To review the changes being considered click here.

Membership
Membership in the American Planning Association - Kentucky Chapter is open to all members of the public and is only $25 a year. Here is the KAPA membership application form in xls format, you may print this out and send it in to apply for membership. Information on membership in the APA national organization is available from their website at www.planning.org.

The cost of student membership in the APA is sponsored in half by APA-KY. Students interested should send the APA membership application and a check for $22.50 to the APA-KY Treasurer, who will then send on the APA membership application and the $45 student membership fee. Please contact the APA-KY Treasurer for more information.

The APA-KY Chapter Development Plan was last updated and approved by the general membership of the Chapter on May 22, 2009.
